A Legacy Reimagined
With its historical references and contemporary construction, the Chronodate bridges different eras. It blends Angelus’ heritage – and its contribution to Swiss watchmaking – with the brand’s present-day identity. The Chronodate complication alludes to the brand’s early successes in chronographs, notably the Chronodate introduced in 1942, one of the first wristwatches to combine a chronograph with a calendar.

A modern case
The Chronodate showcases a 42.5 mm case that captures the neoretro spirit of Angelus’s sporty chronographs. At its heart, the movement sits in a carbon-fibre composite container, with chronograph push-pieces seamlessly integrated and a matte black ring bridging the case middle and bezel. Encasing this high-tech core, an openworked titanium cradle unites the case middle and lugs into a fluid line, while also holding the bezel with its signature 12 notches, combining technical precision with bold, modern design.

A flexible structure
This modular superstructure was designed to showcase a mix of materials, with taut, sloping, and bevelled lines echoing the aesthetic of other Angelus collections, including its dive watches. Sharp chamfers, alternating angles and curves, and a sense of kinetic energy give the Chronodate its unmistakably sporty character—reinforced by the wide crown, which projects boldly from its guard and is fitted with a central red rubber strip for effortless operation.

A dynamic movement
At the heart of the Chronodate collection beats Angelus’s A-500 chronograph calibre, entirely developed and produced in the Manufacture in Switzerland. Oscillating at 4 Hz, it combines a column wheel and horizontal clutch for a slim profile, while its self-winding rotor—shaped like a capital “A” above a star—places a historic Angelus emblem at the very heart of the movement.

Chronograph aesthetics
The dial features small seconds at 9 o’clock and a 30-minute chronograph counter at 3 o’clock, while a hand-based date circles the edge of the dial in homage to the first Angelus Chronodate of 1942. Set against a subtle green dial, the red arrowhead of the date hand sets the tone for the secondary indications, with the chronograph push-piece markings, central seconds hand, and 30-minute counter hand all highlighted with red lacquer, while the Arabic numerals and main hands are treated with Super-LumiNova for optimal readability in any light.
